2020-21 was our second year competing in FTC. That year's challenge was called Ultimate Goal. Much of the design took the same route as the previous season.
This year we moved to a 4x4 mechanum wheel system. If you haven't heard of them they are really cool. They even let you drive sideways. We didn't invent the system, nor design our own wheels, but our implementation was pretty cool.
We also started using a new printing material, PET-G. This was used to print some of the structural parts, like the mount for the disk launcher. I was able to get the part design and print settings just right so that the part was quite durable despite the high dynamic forces it would experience.
The mechanism consisted of a disk loader and launcher which I ended up designing alongside some younger team members. In final testing, I recall it being able to launch disks all the way down the hallway.
Due to a team member getting COVID and putting the team into quarantine, we weren't able to compete with that year's robot.
